Echoes of Life - June 20-21, 2026
Echoes of Life, the 2026 Oregon International Ballet Academy Spring Performance, is an evening of contrast, beauty, and reflection—blending the brilliance of classical ballet with the expressive depth of contemporary creation. This program invites audiences to experience both the technical precision of timeless works and the emotional resonance of new, thought-provoking choreography.
The performance opens with Paquita (Act III), a dazzling showcase of classical ballet’s elegance, virtuosity, and ensemble harmony, rooted in the grand 19th-century tradition. In contrast, Ye Li’s Can You See? offers a contemporary exploration of light, awareness, and human connection, tracing a journey of identity, empathy, and the quiet moments that define our shared humanity. Together, these works create a compelling dialogue between past and present, form and feeling.

OIBA’s Nutcracker offers a unique and seamless integration of charming and joyful performances by student dancers with stunning appearances from the school’s top performers and surprise guest artists. The result is a high-quality, cohesive, and exhilarating experience that delivers a heaping portion of holiday magic!

Oregon International Ballet Academy continues its highly acclaimed, annual Nutcracker production! OIBA’s Nutcracker offers a unique and seamless integration of charming and joyful performances by student dancers with stunning appearances from the school’s top performers and surprise guest artists.
With original choreography co-created specifically for OIBA students by Artistic and Executive Director husband and wife team, Xuan Cheng and Ye Li, these young dancers experience not only the joy of professional performance, but also the personal growth associated with the creative process. Many students perform multiple roles in the show with most performing different roles in each performance. A number of parents also participate as party guests, forming memories of dancing with their children onstage they will cherish all their lives.

OIBA students will star in newly choreographed works including a world premiere by Executive Director Ye Li, The Things That Remain, and top-level students will shine in classical solos within the context of a full act ballet choreographed by Artistic Director Xuan Cheng. Light and joyful, this performance will celebrate all that our students accomplished during this difficult time. Taking place at the brand new Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.
