Ye Li was born in An Shan, Liaoning Province of China. At age ten he joined The Dance School of Shenyang Conservatory of Music. After graduation he joined GuangZhou Ballet as a company member under famous Chinese prima ballerina Dandan Zhan. He quickly became a soloist dancer of the company, performing major roles in their repertoire.
In 2001 he received Award of Excellent Performance in the second Shanghai International Ballet Competition .
2000 he received youth’s First prize in the third National Tao Li Bei Dance Competition in China .
In 2009, he joined one of the top Canadian ballet company Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. While there he danced in world class choreographer’s repertories include: Ohad Naharin, Jirí Kylián, Mats Ek, Mauro Bigonzetti, Jean-Christophe Maillot, and Christian Spuck.
He joined Oregon Ballet Theatre as a soloist dancer in 2011.
His danced leading role in Giselle, Swan Lake, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and many contemporary choreographer’s repertories include: William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, Christopher Stowell, and Nicolo Fonte.
In additional of his dancing experience, Ye has taught and coached in China and Canada. In 2013 he taught the higher level students of Oregon Ballet Theatre.
As a dancer,Ye is known for astonishing technique, exquisite detail ,sensitivity to musicality and the dynamic of performance presentation. As a teacher his energetic and dynamic teaching style, as well as his attention to detail, heighten his students’ understanding and enjoyment of ballet technique.
